Joseph Watchi, Wellness coach

hello,

After a successful 20-year career in engineering and following the COVID-19 pandemic, I decided to pursue a childhood dream by launching my own business. Forêt Mixte is a coaching company offering sleep, stress management, nutrition and fitness counseling.

For as long as I can remember, I have always been involved in sports. In the summer I played soccer on an organized team and in the winter I spent days at the local outdoor rink. In high school, I played an additional 5 hours of sports per week, and in college, I did strength training at the facility 3 times a week. Despite all this, I was overweight and my biggest teenage complex was the accumulation of fat in my pectoral area. In 2006, when I met my significant other, a chiropractor specializing in posture correction, she introduced me to healthy living: postural hygiene, nutrition, yoga, meditation and many others. This interest took on a whole new dimension when in 2013 I started doing CrossFit style functional training. I saw my body metamorphose and I wanted more!

Curious by nature, I started experimenting on myself. I adopted a paleo diet, then a strict ketogenic diet, then I started counting my macronutrients, then fasting for 2 to 5 days. I would sign up for 27km Spartan races and triathlons to see how my new lifestyle habits would help me excel. I was amazed at the intelligence and resilience of the human body to adapt and transform itself. This gave me a strong desire to understand the theory and research behind all this beauty.

When the 2020 pandemic began, I felt a strong desire to help my community by sharing my experiences and deepening my knowledge to serve in the best possible way. Indeed, according to a vast literature available to all, the sad fact is clear: our society is increasingly sick and often exposed to serious consequences. I therefore enrolled in certifications in nutrition, fitness and stress and sleep management. For me, the solution was so obvious and lay in healthy lifestyle habits. I had to act without further delay to assist people take control of their health and regain the pleasure of living.

From there, Forêt Mixte was born with its motto: think well, eat well, move well taken in this order to optimize and prioritize the actions necessary to change our lifestyle. To better illustrate this idea, the tree naturally became my emblem of choice. First, its root system that cooperates with other organisms reminds me of our nervous system that acts directly on our sleep and our stress level. Then there is the solidity of the trunk which of course refers to physical conditioning, an indispensable tool to soften the effects of aging. Finally, the foliage which allows the synthesis of organic matter by absorbing the sun's energy to nourish the tree.

Important fact to note: a tree is never alone in a forest! On the contrary, it depends on several hundred, even thousands, of plant and animal organisms to survive and flourish. We are no different.

Therefore, in order to offer you the best service, I have established an integrative health approach based on a network of like-minded health professionals, life coaches, yoga/pilates teachers and more, who will be able to assist us when we need them: the Réseau Forêt Mixte. Like the tree and the growing forest, I am actively involved in nurturing and developing this network of valued collaborators every day. This model is based on my years of experience in managing multidisciplinary teams and I am convinced that it will be perfectly adapted to the achievement of your objectives in the attainment of greater vitality.

Finally, please note that my approach is not directive, but collaborative; I am your coach and I work with you. My goal is not to tell you what to do or not to do, but to guide and support you in reaching your own goals that we will determine together. Whether it is to better manage your schedule to improve your sleep quality, to run a marathon for your 60th birthday or to lose weight without going on a low-calorie diet, I will be there to help you succeed. In exchange, I ask that you keep an open mind and be patient. After all, a forest grows at its own pace, so why not take the same approach to changing your lifestyle?
